New Year Update
Wow, we are already into the second month of the New Year.
I, Tink, have been busy reorganizing the house and cleaning. We are trying to be green, especially in the cleaning. I am having fun making new discoveries for old household things. Slowly, the house is looking fabulous. It’s still going to take some work, but it looks like we will be ready for a garage sale by the end of next month. Mom’s bonus room is already filled with stuff I have never used, etc.
Sans got a new job at the end of December. He started working directly for Comcast on the 31st of December. He is tech support for the most part, but it sounds like he will be handling just about everything. He didn’t really want to work another call center tech support position, but he is really enjoying this so far. The people are nice and friendly, the benefits are fantastic, not to mention the free services – which will save us a lot of money. We will be getting the Comcast digital voice, so we will actually be able to talk on the phone without having to go outside for a signal.
We are very happy to report that we only signed a six month lease this time around. We hate the area we live in. Our neighbor got roughed up by her boyfriend, two nights later, our car was broken into, we have a mouse, and the cops seem to be around a lot more than when I first moved in. I just don’t feel safe there any more, and just about every noise outside wakes me up. Plus, we want to move closer to work. Right now, we live at least 30 miles away from work and (especially without a car stereo) the commute is awful.
Because of his new work schedule, Sans and I hardly see each other, unless I take a day off. I still have weekends off, and he has Wed and Thursday off. I get a lot of work done, but I still miss him a lot. We are having another shift bid tomorrow at my work, so I am trying to work something out.
Mario is doing well and is as cute as ever. My blood sugar has been having some problems, only because I had some issues with getting the insulin. I don’t know what it is with WalGreens, or maybe it’s my awful insurance, but every time I order my meds to be refilled, it takes several days to get a refill. And now that my deductible has started over for the New Year, I found that my insulin isn’t actually covered by my insurance. It’s $130 a month. When you don’t make much to start with, and they are already taking a little over $200 a month out of my paychecks, this is a big blow. But we got it, and I am back on the way. Next month, I should be covered by Sans’ insurance and my meds are covered.
Last Sunday, I hit my happy milestone: I have been in remission for 5 years. This technically means that I am cured. I still have to worry and get tested every once in a while, but… I am still cured of cancer. This is a huge relief to everyone, especially my mom. We had a party. Sans is so excited. And so am I.
We have been looking at our finances and things looks like they are easily fixed – from the issues that both of us have had. We can probably take care of it in a few months. Then all we have to worry about is our student loans. We are both really excited about moving. We want somewhere that is a bit larger (more bedrooms), so we can have guests, and hopefully by next year, planning a nursery. J
We hope you are all doing well and we would love to hear from you, even though we have a hard time emailing people back. We are so busy and our normal email is blocked at our respective jobs. Take care, and hope to talk to you all soon!
