It's been a little while, but not much has been going on around here. But I will try to update.
So, I was laid off. And I got unemployment. I have been spending my time looking for work, but also being a housewife (which I LOVE). Our house has never been cleaner, Sans has cookies to take to work every week, fresh bread every few days, and really yummy food ready for dinner when he comes home. ON top of that, I have been working on our taxes, and it's been crazy. I am not a good math person and some of the descriptions that they have in those tax booklets don't make any sense. We owe over $1000 this year. So much for filing jointly and getting a nice refund.
Cooking has become a great passion for me, experimentation with spices, oils, etc. I love it and trying to find new bread recipes and playing with all kinds of foods that I probably wouldn't normally try. I have made bread from the smallest amount of stuff around the house and it has all been fabulous, except for the time I forgot the eggs, and it was a total waste of the last of our gouda cheese. I am also experimenting with low carb foods for myself. Many things take a long time to cook, some even two days to prepare. But much of it is incredibly tasty and again, stuff that I never would have thought to put together. And now, we have come to find out that Mom's boyfriend is also diabetic, so we have been helping each other out with recipes and little hints, etc. It's nice to have someone to talk about it to that understands.
We are getting ready to go to Montana at the end of the week. We are going to visit San's parents and he will be showing me around all the places that he used to go to and I will be meeting some of his friends that weren't able to make it to the wedding. It should be fun, and if nothing else, it will be nice to get away from here for a bit. We got a new car stereo, so our tunes are taken care of. I always look forward to a good road trip.
Sans still enjoys his job – although it is becoming more of a job for him. He loves the people he works with, though and sometimes that makes all the difference in the world. I have been accepted because of the cookies I make. We are having a little trouble getting his insurance all set up. His is covered, but someone in HR is not doing their job correctly, he has had to fight tooth and nail to get me on his insurance and I am supposed to be on it, but it's still not in the system, so at the moment, I can't even get my prescriptions. But supposedly, it is supposed to be pro-rated to March 18. We shall see. It's agitating me a little bit.
Speaking of health, Sans needs to have a root canal. Poor guy. I went with him to the dentist a couple of weeks ago, the soonest they can get him in for his root canal? The end of May. What is up with that? I don't understand why it takes so long to get an appointment for something that is affecting his eating and pain level. He has gone through almost an entire bottle of orajel, because the pain is so bad. It's ridiculous. I have been off my antidepressants for over a month because of the insurance thing. I am trying not to be a total evil woman, but sometimes, I just can't help it. Poor sans. Between my flying off the handle and his pained tooth, I don't know how he can manage.
The mice seem to be all gone. We had to put another round of poison (as much as we hated doing so) out and I think we got the last of them (the fourth one), since we haven't seen them since the last one. We complained to our apartment manager and the only thing she offered as help was for us to get a cat. Ummm, yeah, Sans is allergic. We told her that, and she just shrugged and pretty much said there was nothing to do to help, then. Thanks lady. We really can NOT wait to move down to Beaverton at the end of next month. We are really starting to hate it here.
We are doing really well at getting green. We started a tiny compost bin yesterday, and planted all of our seeds for our herbs and some flowers, etc. I have been making my own cleaners, and after I get back from Montana, mom and I are going to go shopping for some fabric so I can make my own produce and bulk food bags. We have several shopping bags that we picked up at various stores, and I have been reading a great book called Gorgeously Green which gives tons of hints, and encourages one small step a day. I am really loving it. In the spirit of things, I have actually gotten Sans to take the car to work, instead of me driving back and forth. He is getting more comfortable driving on the freeway, which is fantastic.
So things are working out here, and we are still happy. We hope you are all doing well also. Email us or comment here, we'd love to here from you!

Hey you! It's been a while, where are my cookies?? :) I'm kidding, well not really, haha but it's always great to know you two are doing well. It makes my heart glad :) Not much new over here. Glad you two are making attempts to go "green," it really isn't that hard and I wish more people would recycle what they could.
Well anyway, I hope you two have a great time or if you already left, I hope you had a great time over in Montana. Say hi to Tyler from the guys and I. Have a great Spring!
Hello dears
Have a wonderful trip to Montana!! We miss you at our house, hope to see you when you get back -
Love, The Meyer Folk
I'm glad everything seems to be going well for you! When I started my current job, it took 6 months for my insurance to get straight! It was a crazy and frustrating time!
I'm jealousE of your compost bin. I can't have one because our tiny patio is, well, tiny and I think C would not appreciate the smell.
And we'll have to do a shopping tote exchange when we both finally make our bags!
