Tomorrow - rant

We move. I am so sick of packing. And thinking about what we are going to do with all of our stuff.

We had so much stuff to sell at our garage sale. I thought for sure we would make a bunch of money. We made around $200. And three trips to Goodwill to get rid of all that didn't sell. I suppose that's a good tax deduction. I really cleaned our place out, too. But it still looks like we didn't. :-)

We had about 6 people lined up to help us with our moving on Wednesday, but everyone except for a couple have canceled. See who gets help when they move! It's kind of put me in a bit of a mood. I think I am just overloaded, and tired and hot and stressed about the money. We have to borrow from mom to pay our first month rent. I hate hate hate asking for money.

We are looking forward to being away from this area. Especially our mail carriers. This is something lovely:

When I moved here I went through all the motions to do a change of address, emailed, mailed, etc to all of my bills, magazines, and subscriptions and through the post office. Everything was fine for the first year. Then things changed. I stopped getting mail. Or I would get it sporadically. Then I started receiving emails and phone calls about my mail being returned with the marking of "no such person at this address." I called the post office several times, I went in to talk to them, I emailed them. I was told countless times this would be taken care of. I started getting my mail again. Periodically, the same thing would happen. I went through the motions again.

Right before our wedding, our building decided to repave the parking lot. For a week (because of the rainy weather) our mail could not be delivered. We went to the post office to pick it up. We were told our mail wasn't there. Our mail carrier was attempting to deliver it. So we filled out the form to hold our mail and we specified that we would come in to pick it up daily. They never had our mail. Finally, on Friday, they had our mail. And we finally were able to get money we had been waiting for.

Then, the lock on our box broke. The apartments told us it was the responsibility of the Post office to fix it. The post office told us it was the responsibility of the apartment building. This went on for several weeks. Our mail was still delivered, and hopefully none of it got stolen. Eventually, our apartment building fixed it.

Since then, we really haven't had a problem with our mail. Until now. The USPS has change of address forms in their offices. We went and picked them up about a week ago. The forms stated to put the notice in our mailboxes about 2 weeks before our move date. We specified the date we were going to move as July 5. The next day, we received no mail. Or the next day. Then the apartment building had our parking lot sealed (took them a while, huh?), so there was no mail. On Saturday I went to check the mail. There is a vacant notice in the box. We haven't had a chance to go and check with the post office about this, but it's pretty upsetting that we can't even get mail for another few days. Especially when we were waiting for a check to come in that would pay our first month's rent. WTH?

Anyway, I hope that Beaverton's PO is better than the one here.

Sorry about all the negativity and complaining. I am tired and am not feeling well, and needed a vent. Wish us luck moving! I'll post pictures and an update when we get set up!

soon it will all be over and we'll be living in another state. Just think of all the money we'll save. It's a pain in the ass now, but next Friday I'll be able to leave for work an hour later!
