Well, We're Here... Now What?

Well, we are getting there. Things are moving along slowly. Mostly because of the heat. I have been having some trouble sleeping and eating. But things are coming together.

Our complex seems to be full of nice people, for the most part. There is a lot of gossip – mostly from our downstairs neighbor. She is a grandma who seems to be having at least 6 people living in her two bedroom apartment at any given time. She has five grandkids (I think, there may be more): four boys and one girl. Two of the boys are still babies, and the other two are around 6-8. The girl fits in there somewhere. The kids adore Mario, and every time they see Sans or me they ask where he is. They want him to come over and play and they want to take care of him when I go to the store. This family is so nice. What's sad is that the boys got threatened by some boys (around 4 and 8) across our courtyard, serious enough threats that the police had to be called in. Something about killing the neighbor boys with guns and knives. Weird. So, now all the kids are segregated to different sides of the courtyard. It's really too bad.

Our view from our apartment is fantastic. In the distance, we can see the hills. The courtyard is really nice and well taken care of. And so far, we have seen at least three shooting stars! There is a lot of traffic, both foot and car out in front (where the bedrooms are), so it gets pretty noisy, even with the windows closed. But we have gorgeous trees right outside our window that not only give us some lovely privacy, but are a nice green addition.

We have plenty of storage, which is fabulous, since we next to none in our old apartment. The rooms are a bit tinier, but it is working for us right now. We aren't completely done decorating, but we think it looks good right now. We still need a few furniture items: a matching coffee table ad entertainment unit, a cabinet for the bathroom, and a hutch for our dining area. It's fun going through the new IKEA catalog and pick out the stuff that we want to get. Plus all of the accessories. To much fun!

Sans' job is going... ok. He is doing well at it, likes the people that he works with, but is having the same problem that I had – sales. I don't understand why, when you take a technical support position they give you a sales quota. You didn't get hired there to do sales, I just don't think you should have to do it. I, personally am terrible at sales. I have worked sales jobs before and I did an awful job. I never made my quota. Sans is even more shy that I am, so I can only imagine the problems he has. But he is working his ass off to do his job and doing it correctly, and luckily, he has good management who are trying their best to help him out.

As far as me getting a job, well... there is not much out there that I could stand to do without getting burned out within a week. There are tons of tech support jobs, but I just can't handle it. I hate talking on the phone as it is, and I just can't seem to retain the information that I need to do these tech support positions. I really do prefer data entry, office type jobs. And then there are the hours to consider. I would like to spend time with my husband during my time off, but if I work a desk job, chances are, I would be working 9-5 or something similar, and since he is working 3-midnight, who knows when we would see each other? Not to mention our days off would probably not coincide. Oh, I'll find something eventually.

The other question I seem to get a lot is about my health. Things seem to be going fine. I am going to make appointments for both of us sometime this week same with the dentist for check ups. Sans finally got that tooth removed and he is feeling so much better. It's great.

And now for some pictures. Please forgive the mess, we are still moving! :-)

Hi Jen, sounds like a great new place! At our old apartment complex there were lots of nice neighbors, too, it really makes a difference. I like your beach pictures. :-)

You'll get used to the traffic sound. When we first moved into our apartment in January, I thought I'd never sleep again (right by a road!), but now I don't even notice the cars. Sometimes a big semi will drive by and wake me up, but thats rare. Sounds like everything is going well though, and the place looks great so far. I'll be sending you some job vibes :)

Sounds like things are pulling together for you. Your new home looks very nice. It is fun moving to a new spot and making it your own with your own decorating touches and so forth. :)

Good luck with the job search. I hope you find what you are looking for.
